The Neillsville school board discussed offering full school days/five days a week for four-year-old kindergarteners. This change would save the district financially as noon hour bussing would no longer be needed. The 4K kids would still play and have nap time. Their schedule wouldn’t be as rigorous. The school board approved the 4K full-day/full week schedule for school year 2026-2027.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation celebrated 27 new troopers joining the Wisconsin State Patrol at a graduation ceremony held in Wisconsin Dells, including one graduate from Clark County. Jordan Lindner, from Loyal, one of the 71st recruit class’s 12 officers, has been assigned to Dunn County.

Too many questions remained unanswered last week for the Central Fire and EMS District board to settle on a solution for insuring the city of Abbotsford’s fire station in 2026. As of now, Abbotsford will continue to insure the Public Safety Building going into the new year, but that could change if the fire district can find a way to pay less for insuring the portion of the facility used for fire and ambulance services. Uncertainty lingers over the exact square footage of the building, the cost to replace the structure, and what the cost split should be between the district and the city, which houses the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department on the west side of the building.

The Hands Foundation is excited to announce that a new basement has been poured for St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. Prior to the pour, debris had been removed from the basement, drain tile was installed and concrete poured to ensure the century-old church building’s stability.

The Stanley-Boyd Area School Board is inviting the public to a meeting Monday, January 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library, in relation to a proposed new entrance and district office relocation, estimated at $2.89 million in total project cost if undertaken.
