At its January 12 meeting, the Granton Area School District School Board approved a five-year non-recurring operational referendum question that will appear on the ballot April 7. If a simple majority approves the measure, the district will be able to exceed its revenue limit by $1.25 million annually through the conclusion of the 2030-31 school year.

A Dorchester resident who was nominated to run for village board in April has filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Election Commission after the village clerk’s office closed early on the day he was supposed to turn in his paperwork to be on the ballot. Zach Peissig, who was nominated at the village’s January 7 caucus to run for one of three spots on the village board, said in his complaint that the village office closed at 4 p.m. on January 12, even though state statute allowed him and other candidates until 5 p.m. to meet the deadline for turning in the required ballot access documents.

The state’s official watchdog has made its review and new rates will soon appear on City of Stanley water bills. Effective as of March 26, these are the Step 1 water rates for Stanley. General metered residential service: $9.78 per 1,000 gallons; general metered commercial service $8.40 per 1,000 gallons; general metered multi-family service: $9.80 per 1,000 gallons; general metered industrial service $7.95 per 1,000 gallons; general metered service Ace Ethanol: $6.50 per 1,000 gallons; general metered public authority service: $9.25 per 1,000 gallons.
