At the Clark County Finance Committee held February 18, Rebecca Greisen of the Clark County Health Department presented a request to pay/supply Narcan boxes to the Neillsville School District at a cost of $6, intended for an emergency opioid overdose response. The committee approved the request for two boxes for Neillsville with instructions to proactively reach out to other districts to assess interest and needs.
The Aging & Disability Resource Center governing board held their meeting Monday, February 18. They discussed concerns about the funding cuts to meal programs and ideas to resolve this issue. According to ADRC director, Lynne McDonald, there is a 27.19% decrease in the budget for meals programs.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission on Tuesday ordered that a Dorchester man’s name be placed on the April 7 ballot after he filed a complaint last month alleging that the village did not provide the correct deadline for candidates to turn in their ballot access documents. By a 6-0 vote, the commission granted the request of Zachary Peissig.

Thorp’s city council approved the purchase of four speed boards and four speed cameras to be placed along Hwy X/East Stanley Street, Krych Street, Maple Street, and Washington Street to reduce speeding near the School District of Thorp.
These days, school districts do more than just teach reading, writing and arithmetic. A big component for any successful school district is its ability to positively impact students’ daily lives. To that effect, districts have placed special emphasis on a student’s social and emotional learning and well-being. The School District of Thorp took a big step towards this process, with District Superintendent Adrian Foster sharing the good news with the Board of Education that the district recently obtained a $5,000 Mental Health America of WI grant that will go towards funding a new mental health program at the district.

The Stanley City Council met in closed session during committee of the whole Monday, February 16 to confer with legal counsel rendering oral or written advice concerning strategy to be adopted by the body with respect to potential litigation regarding claims made by former fire chief Korey Hagenson.
The D.R. Moon Memorial Library will be furnished. Voting in regular council Monday, February 16, council members voted to approve new furniture by Henricksen in the amount of $132,131.85 from FFP grant funds. Also included Monday for library news was a tour invitation to see library construction.
