On Friday, May 8, the Owen-Withee Elementary First Graders had a field trip to the Owen Public Library. Over 30 first graders, their younger siblings, teachers, parents, staff, and 10 volunteers showed up. The library’s Summer Reading Program and its theme, “Dinosaurs, Dragons, and Dirt,” was introduced through a variety of activities that included a Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt, Dinosaur and Dragon stories, a Poppy flower craft, sidewalk chalk, Dinosaur Puzzles, and a Dinosaur mural that was colored in.
Sign up for the Summer Reading Program starts on Monday, June 22, and has a challenge for adults and teens as well as kids. The Owen Library is also hosting activity days three days a week throughout the summer that will have independent, self-guided activities. Tuesday will have tabletop and board games available to play, Wednesday will have coloring sheets and coloring supplies available, and Thursday will have jigsaw puzzles available to put together. The library would like to express its thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers.
