By implementing a new 20 percent coinsurance payment for employees on the district’s health insurance plan, the Abbotsford School Board on Monday followed the lead of several other districts in the area that are trying to blunt the effects of rising premiums.
The Colby School Board approved a motion on Monday to move forward with the co-establishment of a recovery school in conjunction with the Abbotsford School District. Should an implementation grant from the state be awarded, the new recovery school could be up and running as soon as the fall of 2026.

The School District of Thorp’s Board of Education passed a resolution during its monthly board meeting on Wednesday, May 13, that authorizes the transfer of funds and the establishment of an escrow account with respect to the defeasance of the district’s general obligation refunding bonds that were dated back to August 30 of 2017.
The Thorp Library Friends revealed its logo following the conclusion of its community-wide vote on May 1. The Thorp Library Friends is a newly created public organization geared towards promoting resources for the Thorp Public Library.
Stanley Republican
The Stanley Common Council met Monday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m. at city hall. Meeting prior to the council meeting as a committee of the whole, the council members held two closed sessions with legal counsel, present via telephone. The first closed session with legal counsel Jerrilyn Jacobs was in respect to potential litigation involving employment action regarding the former fire chief. The second was held with respect to potential litigation involving employment action regarding the former city administrator. Neither closed session resulted in action being forwarded to or taken by the council.
The community is invited to attend a special student recital on Sunday, June 7 at 1:30 p.m. at the Stanley Area Historical Society. This informal concert will feature violin and cello students of all ages.
