The School District of Thorp has long benefitted from a strong relationship with local businesses, families and organizations over the years, but is now taking it one step further. The district is utilizing a bold new plan to drive community action to provide much needed school supplies for students. The goal of the district in 2026-27 is to create Self-Sustained Student Model, which would eliminate traditional out-of-pocket school supply lists for all families with children in grades 4K through 6th grade. To ensure this program becomes a permanent fixture, the school district is working on creating a partnership with the Thorp Chamber of Commerce and Thorp’s businesses through monetary contributions or the equivalent of in-kind product donations.

The Stanley library addition is on schedule to be completed August 28, or one day before the birthday of namesake Delos Rensselaer (D.R.) Moon Sr., born August 29, 1835 in New York state before later becoming an Eau Claire lumber baron. Designed by River Architects for a cost of $300,000 and awarded for construction to Hoeft Builders for a contract cost of $3,994,893, a total of 11 change orders (excluding two that were rejected) has since brought the building cost to $4,360,938.63.
