Andrew Nowak recently took over as the new director at the Thorp Public Library. His first day was September 8, but he had previously served on the library board and as a member of the Thorp Library Friends.
Central Wisconsin will once again have a representative at the 2026 National Kids Pedal Pull in Mitchell, South Dakota at the Corn Palace. Local youth Alex Marek made his way to the national stage last week after placing inside the top four in his division at Wisconsin’s state children’s pedal pull competition on September 12.

The D.R. Moon Memorial Library will open to the public on Monday, October 5 at 8 a.m.
The city of Stanley is looking to borrow $8 million, pending a council meeting in October. The proposed amount comes as the Federal Reserve recently announce a rate hike and will allow the city to pay and roll over $4 million borrowed earlier this year while also paying for the central water treatment plant and $500,000 for the library as it awaits outside reimbursement on city projects.
