Vern E. Johnson, age 78, of Curtiss, passed away on September 13, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
Vern was born on October 8, 1945, the son of Robert and Ena (Jarrard) Johnson in Hastings, MI. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964-67 stationed in Germany. On November 22, 1975, Vern was united in marriage to Janet Bowman in Hastings, MI. They moved to Wisconsin in 1988, where he worked for Christensen Dairy and later had his own dairy cows.
Vern loved to shoot pool and throw horseshoes. He thoroughly enjoyed driving for the Mennonites and Amish. Vern will be missed by all who knew him.
Vern is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janet; two children: Jeff (Sara) Johnson of Green Bay and Jennifer (Andy) Vercauteren of Green Bay; and two grandchildren: Madelyn and Aubrey Johnson. He is further survived by two sisters: Elaine Gohl of Marcellus, MI and Judy (Rick) Aspinall of Hastings, MI; one nephew and two nieces: Chris (Missy) Hall of Berrien Center, MI, Carman (Jon) Wildes of Cassopolis, MI and Shannon Aspinall of Eaton Rapids, MI; many great-nieces and great-nephews.
