Withee Village Board approves TID #2 analysis

The Withee Village Board held their regular meeting on Monday, November 11, 2024. Bills were paid as presented with the addition of their quarterly sewer bill from the City of Owen.
A contract with MSA Professional Services in the estimated amount of $5,000 was approved for work on TID #2. Midway Steel is planning a possible addition of 21,000 square feet. The expenditure period for the TID is December 17 so the time is short to get an analysis done on any possible incentives the village might provide for the project. MSA will do a cash flow analysis and help with any Developers Agreements that might be needed. The analysis portion of the project will cost about $2,500 and will be reimbursed to the village by Midway Steel. A special meeting will probably be required for approval of the Developers Agreement if the project is to move forward. The TID matures in 2029 and the village could look at requesting an extension.
Chief of Police Patrick Fehlman reported that most of the last Police Committee meeting was in closed session to discuss his wage increase for 2025 and conduct interviews for the third officer. The board then went into closed session for about 10 minutes before approving the wage increase for the Chief.
Under Department of Public Works, DPW Schad reported that Owen’s water tower is back in service. B&M needs to make some adjustment to the pumps and the heaters are working again. A new street sign was put up at the corner of Pine and First Streets. Trustee Bill Kroeplin mentioned that it would be nice if house numbers could be placed in people’s front yards rather than on their homes. It would make it easier for fire and ambulance to respond to calls, but it would be expensive.
The Village Board meeting on December 9 was moved to 6 p.m. In a short budget meeting before the regular meeting, the board set the Budget Hearing for December 4 at 6:15 p.m.
