Withee Village Board hears about Traffic Calming Grant

The Withee Village Board meeting on Monday, August 12 was relatively short. The board approved a resolution accepting an ordinance adopted by the O-W-C Fire and EMS District Commission related to charging mitigation rates for services by the fire department.

Under the Police Report, Chief Patrick Fehlman reported that the abatement on Dania Street was completed and a posting for the items that were removed and will be sold at silent auction was out. He said the department is working on some fraud, drug, and domestic violence cases. They are trying to do more traffic. He will be making a list of residences with junk on their property and will be sending them letters soon.

During the Public Works Report, DPW Derek Schad reported that Clover and Pine Street paving is complete. He is planning to flush hydrants soon. Schad said he is also planning to talk to Ovyn’s about doing some shoulder work. He had to make some changes to the purchases for the Traffic Calming Grant. There is not enough distance between the warning signs and the signs with blinking lights to use those with blinking lights. He got the okay from the county to get another solar speed sign for up at the north end of town. He will still be putting bright green warning signs at the crosswalks and will be painting crosswalks. The change to the grant was approved by the board. Schad also reported that they blew a hydraulic line on the endloader.

Alcohol licenses were approved for Liberty Square Gas Station Inc., which will be taking over ownership of Withee BP.
