2025 Owen Jr. Fair “Search for the Golden Spike”

Aloney Rust Owen was the city’s first postmaster.
He contributed much to this town...a positive forecaster.
Several buildings in town stood then and still now.
100-year-old structures...admire and say, “Wow”.

Look near these places as you search for the spike.
Imagine life 100 years ago...as you stroll and hike.
Axes swung and the lumberjacks worked late.
Some stayed at the Woodland as they rested and ate.
Rules
1. Clues will be given in the Enterprise Sentinel and on the city website for three weeks.
2. First person to find the Golden Spike and follow the instructions located with it will be declared the winner.
3. The Golden Spike will be hidden somewhere in the city of Owen.
4. The Golden Spike will not be hidden on O-W School grounds, on or near the railroad tracks, on the water tower, or on church property.
5. No tools are needed to find the Golden Spike.
6. Do not damage property while searching for the Golden Spike.
7. Anyone is eligible to search for the Golden Spike except members of the Owen Jr. Fair Committee, employees of the City of Owen, or employees of the Enterprise Sentinel.
8. If the Golden Spike is not found by Saturday, September 6, a final clue will be handed to searchers gathered at the Fairground food stand at 9 a.m.
9. The winner will be awarded $100.
