As more people continue to call for President Joe Biden to get out of the presidential race, there is a little talked about plan from the Republican side. It is called Project 2025, and if you want to read it in its entirety, you can find it at project2025.org. It is published on the internet as a Mandate for Leadership—The Conservative Promise and is per their site “an invitation for you the reader—Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith, and Ms. Smith—to come to Washington or support those who can. Our goal is to assemble an army of aligned, vetted, trained, and prepared conservatives to go to work on Day One to deconstruct the Administrative State.” Donald Trump apparently doesn’t agree with everything in this policy handbook, but it should scare us all a bit anyway.

The Heritage Foundation is behind this project. They are a conservative think tank. They say the goal of the 2025 Presidential Transition Project is to “build on four pillars that will, collectively, pave the way for an effective conservative administration: a policy agenda, personnel, training, and a 180-day playbook.”

It is written in a series of essays covering a number of topics. This begins with four pillars.

Pillar I says that the “book” “puts in one place a consensus view of how major federal agencies must be governed and where disagreement exists brackets out these differences for the next President to choose a path.”

Pillar II is “a personnel database that allows candidates to build their own professional profiles and our coalition members to review and voice their recommendations. These recommendations will then be collated and shared with the President-elect’s team, greatly streamlining the appointment process.”

Pillar III is the Presidential Administration Academy, “an online educational system taught by experts from our coalition. For the newcomer, this will explain how the government functions and how to function in government. For the experienced, we will host in-person seminars with advance training and set the bar for what is expected of senior leadership.”

Pillar IV is a playbook for “forming agency teams and drafting transition plans to move out upon the President’s utterance of ‘so help me God’”.

On the surface, this doesn’t sound too bad. After all, everyone should know how government functions. But it does push a particular agenda and appears to create a system of elite people who will be the only ones allowed to govern. I also make the assumption that even though it is about the presidential transition, they are trying to influence other elections and government agencies too.

Sections of the book include: Taking the Reins of Government, The Common Defense, The General Welfare, The Economy, and Independent Regulatory Agencies.

Taking the Reins of Government deals with the White House and the Executive Office of the President. The Common Defense deals with such items as the Defense Dept., Homeland Security, the Intelligence Community and Media Agencies. The General Welfare deals with many of the other government agencies that we would recognize. The Economy deals with Commerce, Treasury, the Federal Reserve, etc. Independent Regulatory Agencies deals with finance, trade, communications and elections.

When you go to the website all you have to do is click on policy to access this information. I admit I haven’t read the entire document, but plan to read more. And you should too. At least take a look at it. Everyone should know what agenda this group is proposing because we may just find ourselves living with parts of it regardless of who gets elected in November.
