The Wisconsin Wins program is a state-level initiative designed to decrease youth access to tobacco products. The program aims to educate retailers on tobacco sales laws and ensure that employees are properly checking IDs. Since the campaign’s launch in 2002, tobacco sales to youth have drastically decreased across the state. In late June, the Clark County Health Department facilitated tobacco compliance checks across Clark County. During each compliance check, a youth (under 18) entered a licensed retailer, and attempted to purchase a tobacco product. Employees who refused to complete the sale exhibited both job competence and regard for the law.
The following Clark County retailers passed their compliance check:
Abbotsford: Super Mercado La Tropicana, Amoco Gas Station, Dollar General, Express Lane
Curtiss: Abbyland Travel Center
Dorchester: River County Co-op
Granton: Granton Convenience Store, Dollar General
Greenwood: Kwik Trip, Family Dollar, River County Co-op
Loyal: Kwik Trip
Neillsville: River Country Co-op, Kwik Trip
Owen: One Shot LLC, Dollar General, CreekSide Convenience LLC
Thorp: Kwik Trip, Express Mart, Hausum Tobacco, Family Dollar
Unity: Happy Beerz
Withee: Withee BP
