Friends of the Old School gets a hand removing Christmas tree

Posted

On March 6 at 8:55 a.m. I sent FOSI member Sharon Laube Scheinost a short text to see if she could ask her cousin Terry Laube for help in getting the Christmas lights off the tree that FOSI had placed at the foot of Main Street.
Sharon said she would call him, then asked if I would like it done today?
I replied, “That would be great but…” I certainly wasn’t expecting miracles. I was hoping to get the lights off, the rest we could worry about later.
Terry’s crew of two (and I am sorry I didn’t ask their names!) not only removed the lights, they decided they could get the tree up and out with a chain. Then they offered to cut the tree into three or four foot lengths to make it easier to cart away. Then they said, “Why don’t we just take it on down to the city's recycling bin for you?”
So by 9:55 a.m. the tree was removed, the hole filled in and the few remaining branches raked up. Which goes to prove the saying “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know”. And we at FOSI are very grateful
