The Eighth Annual Gilman Christmas Festival has come and gone. Taking place Saturday in below zero weather, the Christmas Festival nonetheless saw good turnout. Starting out small and growing through the years, the light display was put up with help from the juniors and seniors at Gilman High School. Decorations this year include those at the campground, the park by the Marathon gas station, the decorating of the area west of Gilman Cheese and to the east of the pump house, the army tank to the north of the pump house and (new this year) the pickle ball court southwest of the Gilman Corner Store.
Santa was at the Christmas Festival to greet the kids, there being wagon rides and three bonfires as well. Now over for the present, the Gilman Christmas Festival returns next year.
“It was cold but everyone had a good time,” one participant said of how things went.
