A beautiful day at the start of September. The air was crisp early but climbed into the 70s as 15 hearty golfers, including three ladies showed up at the Meadowview Golf Course for the weekly Fun League. Four teams were formed. The game format was a scramble where all members of a team hit their shot and choose the best shot to play as they advance toward the green. No golfer could use their drive on consecutive holes. Four captains, Scott Strzok, Deron Underdahl, Kert Boie and Mark Schmidt were selected to head up their respective teams. Remaining team members were selected by drawing cards. Teams were evenly matched again as reflected in team scores of 33, 33, 33 and 31 with 36 being par. The winning team, shooting 5 under par 31 consisted of captain Scott Strzok teaming up with LeRoy Wellman, Dennis Kieser and Betty Rhyner. The 31 matched the record low score for this year’s Fun League. Hole prizes were won by Dennis Kieser, longest putt on hole #9 and LeRoy Wellman being closest to the pin off the tee on hole #2. The Fun League is held each Tuesday at Meadowview Golf Course throughout the summer. Show up early, no later than 9:30 a.m. for registration and team selection with tee-off scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Come and enjoy a low stress round of golf.
