The sky was clear with no cloud to be seen. An ideal day to play golf. With the temperature in the upper 70s and little to no wind, 19 eager golfers gathered for the weekly Tuesday Fun League. Included in the 19 were one new member and family of Ev and Betty Rhyner. The course itself was in excellent condition with fairways and greens that were well-maintained. Five teams were formed with assigned captains being Kert Boie, Scott Strzok, Jack Wendler, Betty Rhyner and Scott Jalling. The remaining team members were selected through a card draw. This week’s game format was Step-Aside Scramble. In this format all players hit their shot with the best shot being chosen. The player that hit that shot steps aside for the next shot. No player hits two consecutive shots. The competition was extremely close as the teams finished up with rounds of 35, 34, 33, 32 and 31. All team scores were under par. The winning team scoring 31 included Jack Wendler, Bruce Bednar, LeRoy Wellman and Bob Arimura. Dennis Kieser’s shot on hole #2 was closest to the pin, while Kert Boie made the longest putt on hole #9. The Fun League is a weekly event held at Meadowview Golf Course during the spring, summer, and fall. Each week, a different version of the Scramble format is played, ensuring that everyone gets a fresh and exciting experience. To participate, arrive early by 9:30 a.m. to sign up and be assigned to a team. Tee-off is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Join us for a relaxed round of golf that promises to be both enjoyable and rewarding.
