Golf Fun League Week 24

The sky was partly cloudy. The air was crisp with the temperature hovering around 50 as 14 dedicated golfers showed up at Meadowview Golf Course for the 24th weekly Golf Fun League. The maintenance crew was on the course mulching and blowing off the fairways while the greens were in excellent shape. Two members who were very instrumental to the success of the Fun League were recognized as they both were celebrating their 80th birthdays. Team captains assigned this week were Kert Boie, Scott Strzok and Scott Jalling. Three sober teams were chosen randomly through the drawing of cards. The game format this week was the Non-Consecutive Scramble. In this format no player can have their drive used on consecutive holes. The three teams all shot great rounds as they reported to the clubhouse with scores of 34, 33 and 30. The winning score of 30 is now the lowest score ever recorded by any team in the Fun League. Members accomplishing this feat were Kert Boie, John Boss, Dennis Wilson (Birthday Boy) and Dennis Kieser. Congratulations were extended to the team members. The hole prizes, closest to the pin on hole #2 was won by John Goodale while Scott Strzok knocked in the longest putt on hole #9. The Fun League is a weekly event held at Meadowview Golf Course during the spring, summer, and fall. Each week, a different version of the Scramble format is played, ensuring that everyone gets a fresh and exciting experience. To participate, arrive early by 10:00 a.m. to sign up and be assigned to a team. Tee-off is now scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Join us for a relaxed round of golf that promises to be both enjoyable and rewarding.
