On Friday, April 12, from 1:30-2:30 p.m., grandparents and honorary grandparents were invited to spend time with their grandchildren at Owen-Withee Elementary School in honor of Grandparents Day. From the first bell of the morning, the school was buzzing with excited students waiting to spend time with their special guests. A few fifth grade students greeted and directed the grandparents numbering 216 as they flocked into the school in search of their precious grandchildren. Many gathered in the elementary school gymnasium as many classrooms couldn’t contain all the students and grandparents.
During this time, students gave hand-made cards to their grandparents, played games, crafted and shared a snack of milk and cookies. Following the fun-filled afternoon, many students left early with their grandparents allowing for a bit more quality, intergenerational time together.
