Owen-Withee Blackhawk Cross Country ran at the Colby Sectional last Saturday, with Evelyn Goessl placing 11th out of 115 runners with a time of 21:09.6 while Maddie Roberts finished 91st with a time of 27:45.
Malachi Frenette meanwhile finished the boys race 83rd out of 118 runners with a time of 22:32.6.
Blackhawks Cross Country co-coach Rachel Devine shared more.
“The Division 3 Sectional at Colby was probably the toughest sectional in the division. Evelyn Goessl placed 11th out of 115 runners. She needed a top 5 finish to get to state as an individual. The course wasn't one of the toughest ones we have seen during the season but the wind was a factor in everyone's running and there weren't many personal records met that day. It was a successful season with a lot of runners getting their personal records and many top 10 finishes by individuals in both high school and middle school. Hopefully we can get more runners out next season so that we can compete as a team rather than individuals.”
