Lublin Board approves fireworks display for upcoming Celebration

Lublin Days will see a dazzling display of fireworks once again. As the Village of Lublin monthly board meeting at Lublin Village Hall began with a full house as usual, board members unanimously voted to continue the fireworks tradition at a budget cost of $4,000.

Trustee Fr. Hermann Klarr shared with the board members that the Lublin American Legion Post 547 wanted the alleyway east-west of the south side of the Legion abandoned to make way for extra parking spots as it hasn’t been maintained in many years. Klarr mentioned that after beginning a petition, they received five out of six signatures from residents giving more than a majority vote.

Village President Randy Madlon expressed concern that there wouldn’t be enough space for extra parking and stated that they are going to have a hard time using that parking without somebody driving on somebody’s property. When asked by Madlon, when the parking reconstruction would take place, Klarr replied that the Legion would like to get it done this year and that any concerns to the Legion have been addressed by the Legion.

“There’s no point in having alleyways that don’t get maintained,” said Klarr mentioning that the alleyways haven’t been maintained in decades and should have been abandoned a long time ago. “My personal opinion, not as a board member but my personal opinion is that the alleyways that have not been maintained in decades should be just automatically abandoned.”

Madlon motioned to abandon the alleyway and Klarr and Trustee Christine Compagnone unanimously agreed.

The next monthly board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 11th.
