On Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 3:05 p.m., the Gilman Rural Fire Department, Taylor County Ambulance and Aspirus Medivac were dispatched to Miller Dam for a person in the water who had fallen off a tube while being towed by a boat and was unable to get back in the boat due to injuries. Gilman Fire was able to make a successful rescue of the patient with the use of local resources and the patient was transported to shore. The patient was further transported to Aspirus Hospital Medford for additional treatment.
The incident is still under investigation by the Wisconsin DNR-Taylor County and Taylor County Sheriff's Department and any further information will come from one of these departments.
The Gilman Rural Fire Department would like to thank Taylor County Ambulance, Aspirus Medivac, Taylor County Sheriff, Taylor County Dispatch, Wisconsin DNR and Taylor County Emergency Management for their assistance in this incident.
