At the July 30 meeting, the Loyal School Board approved a new phone and paging system, as the current paging system does not allow for announcements to be made throughout the entire building. The phone and paging system will cost $29,606 with installation being $2,500. This upgrade will save the district $20,000 over the next 10 years. The board also approved purchasing the new district security camera server upgrade. The current server has had issues. The cost of the new server is $14,314 with an upgrade in software costing $7,159 and installation costing $5,000.

With hopes of keeping a railroad crossing open at Basswood Avenue, town of Unity officials have agreed to permanently close three other rail crossing that have been identified as potentially dangerous intersections for motorists.

Kids in the Abbotsford area will soon have new playground equipment to crawl on at Shortner Park, after the city council voted Monday to purchase a package that includes monkey bars, climbing platforms, a swing set and two slides.

In a decision made after a lengthy closed session, the Stanley City Council voted to remove Stanley Fire Chief Korey Hagenson from his position as Fire Chief and Medical Service Director at the August 5 meeting due to “unacceptable job performance.”
