Rising waters led to washed out roads, particularly in the rural Greenwood and Willard areas, after a deluge of rain fell earlier this week. Heavy rain Sunday night led to the National Weather Service issuing a flash flood warning for west central Clark County.

The Miss Neillsville program turned 60 years old in 2024, celebrating its Diamond Jubilee. The program began in 1964, with the first princess crowned being Sandy Seibert.
The ambiance of the Silver Dome Ballroom has never faded since it first opened in July 1933. The ballroom was open again Saturday, June 22, for an evening of music.

A man is in custody after two juveniles were found deceased inside a trailer home in Abbotsford after Colby-Abbotsford Police officers and Clark County deputies were dispatched to the home just after 1:30 a.m. on Friday, July 5. The suspect, Victor Manuel Gomez Acosta, 29, of Abbotsford, was taken into custody at the scene and after being medically cleared at Marshfield Medical Center, was transferred to the Clark County jail. The two deceased juvenile victims were found with stab wounds and were found deceased at the scene. One adult female victim was also found with stab wounds at the scene and was still receiving medical care as of Monday evening. Gomez Acosta is being charged with two Class A Felony counts of First Degree Intentional Homicide and one Class A Felony count of attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide.

Thorp Police Chief Ty Schneider gave his monthly report and reminds residents and visitors to Thorp there is a 48-hour time limit with regards to parking on city streets, avenues and boulevards. Campers, ATVs/UTVs, boats and other vehicles cannot obstruct the flow of traffic and must allow for ingress and egress.

Residents of Pine Court Village addressed the Stanley City Council at the July 1 meeting expressing concern and frustration over the neglected state of Pine Court. Randy Karlen, one of the first residents of Pine Court Village, informed the Council of the large potholes and disrepair. Resident Nancy Karlen explained that lack of drainage on the road makes the heavy rains and thaw from the snow a nuisance.
The Stanley Area Historical Society (SAHS) was founded in the mid-1970s. Now 49 years old, the society is seeking help with obtaining newer computer hardware, to better handle the conversion of physical records to digital format, as well as gathering material from old newspapers. Its last computer upgrade was in 2014.
