The Owen-Withee-Curtiss EMS Foundation would like to thank everyone who made our raffles and silent auctions for this year’s dance a resounding success! Whether you were a donor of prizes, or purchased raffle tickets, cards for the card raffle or participated in the silent auctions, we thank you.
A silent auction was again conducted along with the ever-popular bucket and card raffles. A record number of items (20) were up for the silent auction. The auction was divided into three different closing times. These items closed at 8:00 p.m.: A painting of a wolf pack painted by a resident of the Stanley Correctional Facility (SCOPES) – Noel Barteck won the bid on this item. Munson Bridge Winery donated a large planter - Harlen Brubaker had the high bid. A giant petunia hanging basket from Mary Etta Zimmerman was purchased by Brian Raasch. Black River Orchard donated a “Mansion” bird house that went to Earl Brubaker. Wind chimes made by Noel Barteck received a high bid from Harlen Brubaker. And, finally, a Ricardo Luggage set donated by Hene Supply - Christine Fritz. Bids on the following items closed at 9:00 p.m.: A landscape painting created by a SCOPES individual – Sean Wiese had the winning bid. The three speed bicycle that Dottie Bjornstad donated went to Grace Dale. Courtesy Ford gave a detailing package and gift certificate - Maynard Kilmer had the winning bid. SSgt Richard Ottum provided a D-Day Commemorative sculpture - Hailey Lindberg had the high bid. A log cabin bird house by Noel Barteck went to Earl Brubaker. D.J’s Metal Arts donated a bell - Jason Sensenig took that home. Mary Schulz had the high bid on a case of wine donated by Munson Bridge Winery. And the autographed Blackhawk Football Helmet was won by Sue Smith. The last set of donations had a 10:00 p.m. closing: A firefighter painting done by a resident of SCOPES – Terry Pries won the bidding war on this item. A kayak donated by Brubaker Sewing Center was won by Little Brother’s Transport. A 5’ Mandevilla plant from Frenchtown Greenhouse went to Lester Brubaker. Munson Bridge Winery also donated a patio heater that went home with Keith Martin. And last, but not least Bob Wilczek had the winning bid on an office chair from Pike Office Supply. Certain bids on each silent auction item were highlighted and if a bidder’s number appeared on one of those spots that number was entered into a bonus drawing for one of two first aid kits – Lester Brubaker and Little Brother’s Transport won the first aid kits.
Two guns were given away in the card raffles: a .22 caliber Heritage revolver (a Wild Bill Hickock Commemorative) – donated by O-W-C EMS Foundation, won by Noel Barteck; and a Stevens 334 rifle in 6.5 Creedmore – also donated by O-W-C EMS Foundation, and won by Lester Brubaker.
At 7:00 p.m. a kids raffle was held for youngsters 12 and under. The SCOPES program (Stanley Corrections Outreach Program Equals Success) donated 11 stuffed animals and Grandpa Earl’s Pretzels gave eight small packages of pretzels which went to all the kiddos in attendance.
Hundreds of other items were included in the bucket raffles. O-W Pharmacy and Gifts provided two gift baskets - Harper Peterson & Melissa Boehlke. Prevail Bank donated a cozy fleece blanket – Jason Sensenig. Two $50 gift certificates from Tri-County Equipment - Dick Goessl & Joan Amacher. Kelly’s Unique Hair donated a $40 gift certificate – Noel Barteck. Jason Sensenig, Jerry Rakovec & Jane Wilczek took home the Paula’s Country Diner gift certificates. Mueller Automotive Harley oil change kit - Jerry Rakovec. Nazareth Quilters donated a quilt which was won by Mary Schulz. Nasonville Dairy’s five gift certificates – Jerry Rakovec, Sean Wiese (2), Mary Schulz, & Harper Petersen. The gift certificate from Red Daisy Girl was won by Jerry Rakovec. Owen NAPA and River Country Coop buckets – Sue Smith & Jason Sensenig. Dawn Mueller took home the cooler and picnic gear donated by Joe’s Refrigeration. A tailgate table from Noel Barteck - Trevor Webster. One Shot Bar and Grill gift certificate and crème de menthe basket - Jane Petersen. Four Midway Bar gift certificates - Jason Sensenig, Scott Strohkirch, Tina Raasch & Jean Prestebak. Four large bags of Grandpa Earl’s Pretzels - Jason Sensenig, Joan Amacher (2) & Joe Craja. SCOPES Packer’s pillow - Jennifer Hogan. Six caps & mittens sets from SCOPES - Lester Brubaker (4), Melissa Boehlke & Jerry Rakovec. A basket from A&W with root beer, floats, cap and tee shirt - Earl Brubaker. Jane Petersen & Jane Wilczek went home with Cozy Corner gift certificates. Two slumber party baskets donated by Kristi and Aaron Ruggles rounded out the 8:00 p.m. set of drawings and went home with Lester Brubaker & Aiyla Petersen.
The 9:00 p.m. drawing featured these items and their winners: Laurie’s Hair Creations donated a Shut the Box hand crafted game – Bob Barteck. A basket of snacks and bottle of whiskey from Thorp SuperValu – Jean Prestebak. Two loon key holders - both to Jason Sensenig (donated by Noel Barteck) who also donated two other key holders - Jason Sensenig & Melissa Boehlke. Hene Supply also donated a bucket of gardening tools - Dave Gengler. SCOPES provided four kid’s light quilts - Noel Barteck (3) & Lester Brubaker. Four Martin’s Fresh Market gift certificates – Brian Raasch, Noel Barteck, Tom Rohland & Melissa Bohelke. A pizza party bucket from CreekSide Convenience Store also went home with Melissa Boehlke. Scoops Ice Cream Parlor gift certificates - Jennifer Hogan. Two Milwaukee Brewers tickets went to Mary Schultz. A RMEF knife and flashlight - Vickie Looker. A car detailing bucket from Skunky’s Bar – Sean Wiese. Meadowview Country Club and Golf Course donated two 9 hole rounds (with a cart) - Steve Martens & Jerry Rakovec. Three quilts donated by SCOPES - Lester Brubaker, Janice Weller & Steve Martens. Bears pillow donated by SCOPES - Jerry Rakovec. Grassland Dairy donated a case of butter which was given out in four pound lots - Sean Weise (2), Lester Brubaker (2), Kim Schindler, Mary Schulz, Dawn Mueller, Brock Lindberg & Clay Bowe. Norene Thorne donated two receiving blankets - Bob Barteck & Jerry Rakovec. A kid’s fun basket from the Withee Library - Earl Brubaker. Two IGYS gift certificates – Rose Kulas & Ross Bauman. Aaron and Kristi Ruggles donated a pool basket - Lester Brubaker and also a Beenie Baby Basket - Tina Raasch.
The final drawings for the night were at 10:00 p.m. and are as follows: Jackie and O-W Sports and Liquor donated the ever popular tackle box which went home with Trevor Webster. Kwik Trip sent two $100 cards – Lester Brubaker & Mary Schulz. Log bird house - Laura Hiipakka. The Ho Chunk Casino at Black River Falls sent a package that included a free night’s stay and two $25 free play vouchers –Waylon Schultz. Abbyland Truck Stop sent a sausage gift box - Jerry Rakovec. SCOPES provided four more kid’s light quilts - all going to Janice Weller. Two gift cards from Withee Oil - Jerry Rakovec & Tina Raasch. A wind chime donated by Noel Barteck - Lester Brubaker. Forward Bank $100 gift card - Jerry Rakovec. Jerry also took home the air bed and pump. SCOPES pair of throw pillows - Earl Brubaker. Norene Thorne’s two boxes of canned goods went to Jeff B & Laura Hiipakka. IGYS Windsor bucket - Brian Raasch, who also took home the Woodland Hotel basket. AbbyBank gave a picnic/grilling basket - Dave Gengler. A kid’s basket from Brubaker Sewing - Crystal Shepherd. And last, but certainly not least, a basket of hand crocheted items from Laura Hiipakka - Jerry Rakovec.
