Three students and two teachers were chosen to represent their classmates and co-workers during Tuesday’s groundbreaking ceremony at the Abbotsford School District. The event officially kicked off a two-year, $17 million project that will include the addition of four classrooms at the elementary school, an expanded parking lot and various other improvements to the K-12 campus.

The Thorp city council has offered the open Chief of Police position to Daryl Pries. Pries is currently the Chief of Police for the village of Cadott.
The Thorp city council tabled a recommendation for a conditional use permit for The Rock Church. This issue will be returned to the Planning Commission to review the city’s current ordinance and whether a non-profit entity like a church may be allowed into a property zoned Commercial 1 (C-1).

Town of Thorp Treasurer Rita Derks was celebrated at the April 9 meeting for 35 years of service as treasurer for the township.
Following a recommendation from CBS Squared, the Stanley City Council awarded the bid for the Maple Street Reconstruction Project to Haas Sons, Inc. for a total of $3,776,669.37 during Monday night’s meeting on April 7.
