Owen-Withee Elementary School celebrated Read Across America in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday last week February 26-March 1. The students and staff participated in a dress-up day each connected to a Seuss classic. The dress up days included: Monday - Red Fish, Blue Fish, wear your favorite color, Tuesday – Cat in the Hat, wear your favorite hat, Wednesday – Fox in Socks, wear crazy socks day, Thursday – If I Ran the Zoo, wear your favorite animal print and Friday – Sleep Book, wear comfy clothes/pajama day.
The weeklong celebration came to a cozy end on Friday afternoon as parents, grandparents and other readers staked out a comfy spots in the elementary school for the Read-In. Books were cracked and blankets and/or stuffies were cuddled as the students enjoyed 45 minutes of quality reading time. No student read alone during the Read In, as staff, volunteers, and older students filled in to read with students whose family members were not able to come that day.
