Seven students from Owen-Withee High School competed virtually at the 2024 State Forensics Competition. These students had to pass the Subdistrict and District rounds in March and early April in order to compete at the State Competition on April 22. The students bringing home the gold with perfect scores of 25/25 points in the playacting category are as follows: Mason Gay, Colton Paczkowski, Sam Wells and Jack Wendler (If Men Played Cards As Women Do); and Lydia VanArk and Cassidy Graski (Ditzies). Azari Wiemer also competed at State in the prose category with her selection “The Winners” and earned a bronze with 22/25 points. These up and coming Forensics students also competed this year: Gretchen Cwikla and Eva Makovsky, group interpretation (Haunting poems); and Sullivan Poehler, Winston Poehler, and Steven Negron, playacting (Most Likely To). This group of students made it to the District round and hope to get to State next year! Debra Smith is their coach. Thank you to Jeffer Scheuer for judging and stepping in to the coaching spot when needed.
