O-W Theater Dept. to present Booby Trap

The students in the Owen-Withee theater department have been hard at work putting together a meaningful play, Booby Trap by Ed Monk. The play honors the sacrifices men and women make to serve our county in the military. It also highlights the complicated emotions and challenges that the loved ones of soldiers face through the story of one soldier, Peter Galen, played by senior Jack Wendler. Lydia Van Ark, another senior, leads the supporting cast consisting of Elizabeth Cruz, Isabella Lewallen, Steven Negron Gonzalez, Aschton Paczkowski, Maddy Vetterkind, Violet Poehler, Maribel Cruz, Dan Graski, Teddy Van Ark, and Leah Wojcik.
The crew working hard behind the scenes to make the show happen includes Emmy Ruppert, Donald Sweda, Charlotte Stinson, and Caleb Davis. The play is directed by Julie Van Ark and Angela Miller.
The students competed at sectionals at the Pablo Center in Eau Claire on Wednesday, November 5. If the students advance from that level, they will compete at state competition at UW-Stevens Point on November 20th or 21st.
The play will be performed at school for the public on Friday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, November 8 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, November 9 at 2:00 p.m. The cost of admission is $2 and there will be raffle baskets to help support the theater department.
In addition, to honor the brave soldiers who served our country, the theater department is collecting items for the Owen Veterans Clinic. You can bring a monetary donation or any of the following items to the show: socks, gloves, deodorant, chapstick, lotion, shampoo/body wash, gum, or mints. If you would like to help, and cannot attend the show, donations can also be dropped off at the school until November 10.
