OW track opens season at Marshfield

The Owen-Withee Trackhawks took to the field last week, opening their season with meets on Tuesday and Thursday at Marshfield.

Starting with the boys team, notable finishes from Tuesday, March 24 included Brandon Geldernick, who finished first in the 220 yard mens varsity with a time of 24.81 and third in the 60 yard dash with a time of 6.6.4. Also in notable finishes was Colton Paczkowski, who finished second in the 880 yard run with a time of 2:24.24 and third in the 440 yard run with a time of 1:00.58. Paczkowski finished fourth in the one mile run with a time of 5:15.82, followed by Steven Negron Gonzalez in seventh with a time of 5:34.51.

Talon Mueller finished seventh in the 880 yard run for the Trackhawks with a time of 2:27.19.

As for the boys hurdles, Derek Potocnik finished ninth in the 60 yard hurdles with a time of 11.59 while Dan Graski finished in 10th in the 60 yard hurdles with a time of 11.99.

In relay results, the Owen-Withee boys team of Crandon Dallman, Malachi Frenette, Brandon Geldernick, and Talon Mueller finished fourth in the 4x160 relay with a time of 1:19.44, while the JV boys team of Aron Sanchez-Bautista, Aschton Paczkowski, Carter Shelton, and Graski took eighth place in the 4x160 relay with a time of 1:33.52.

Owen-Withee performed well in the 4x440 varsity mens relay, the team including Mueller, Gonzalez, Dallman, and Nick Dambeck coming away in eighth place with a time of 4:46.10. Dallman finished 10th in the varsity pole vault, tying with Alexander Parker of Marshfield for a vault of 10-06.00.

Closing out results for the boys team, Geldernick finished first in the mens varsity long jump with a distance of 20-00.50.

The boys meet on Tuesday was followed with the girls on Thursday, also at Marshfield.

Top results for the girls at Marshfield included first place in the 4x440 yard relay with a time of 4:50.68 by Madi Mueller, Adelynn Petersen, Joslin Sevareid, and Leah Simenson.

Also of note was a sixth place finish in the 60 meter hurdles by Simenson with a time of 10.16, sixth in the high jump by Sevareid with a jump of 4-6.00, sixth in the pole vault by Mueller with a vault of 8-0.00, and sixth in the triple jump by Tegan Hatlestad with a score of 29-4.50.

Other notable finishes from Thursday at Marshfield include Mueller finishing ninth in the 880 yard run with a time of 2:51.61, Adelynn Petersen finishing ninth in the one mile run with a time of 6:27.00, Sevareid finishing sixth in the high jump with a mark of 4-06.00 and tenth in the 60 year dash with a time of 7.96, and Hatlestad finishing ninth in the varsity high jump with a mark of 4-04.00.

The Owen-Withee Trackhawks now head to the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Thursday, April 2 at Menomonie. Meet start time is 3:00 p.m.
