On Saturday, December 14, 2024, the Owen Withee Area Historical Society (OWAHS) received a special donation commemorating former Owen Police Chief Al Jalowicz. Wife Marge Jalowicz gifted her late husband’s Smith and Wesson revolver, handcuffs and police badges that he received after serving for 21 years in Owen. Several family members and friends gathered to celebrate this kind act, including sons Brian, Jim, John and Ken.
Also paying their respects on this day was the current Owen-Withee Police Chief Patrick Fehlman and Officer Jake Haugstad.
OWAHS member Tim Nolan reached out to Marge to set up this tribute. Marge shared these words of gratitude, “All I can say is, Al put his whole heart into police work. He was willing to help officers in other towns when the need arose. He solved 98 percent of the crimes around here. He was fair and was a good person. My whole family thanks you for this honor.”
