The Owen Ordinance Committee met on Thursday, December 4 to discuss updates to two ordinances.
The first was the Wellhead Protection Ordinance. DPW Chad Smith said he redid the plan. He said the city already has an ordinance and this will just update it to 2025 code. It will also include all of the wells in the city; the previous plan did not. A question came up about use of fertilizer on the golf course and how that might affect groundwater. Smith said it would be nice to know what they are using and how much as it takes about five years for it to infiltrate groundwater if there were to be a problem.
The other ordinance was 10-1-28 in regard to parking. It was updated to reflect that winter parking is in effect from November 1 through April 30. This will make the ordinance the same as the signs as you enter the city.
Both will be sent on to the City Council for final approval and will take effect after publication.
