On April 8 and 9, the Owen-Withee FBLA took a trip to Green Bay and competed at the State Leadership Conference hosted in the KI Convention Center. One thousand two hundred kids were present and Owen-Withee had 26 attend. This conference proves who is the best of the best in the entire state of Wisconsin. The State President, Vice President, Parliamentarian, Reporter, Treasurer, and representatives from each region ran the entire conference and also gave out awards at the end of the second day.

There were two very captivating speakers, one being Brad Toll, who spoke about the impact that we and FBLA have on Wisconsin and the nation's business future. The other was Patty Hendrickson who spoke about negative thoughts and how to fight past them and strive for success. They both brought words of wisdom into the entirety of Wisconsin FBLA.

In nearly all the contests there are prelims and finals. Our competitors did a wonderful job, O-W made the finals for five events. The ones that didn't make finals still were able to attend different workshops that correlate with the business world such as one hosted by Shelby Paradowski who presented at our CTSO week and Middle School State Conference. There was also one where you could meet with former Green Bay Packers player Rob Davis. They were also able to attend the college fair that had representatives of different colleges in every division to talk to the kids about what their schools offer.

Awards were announced on the final day and was the moment everyone was waiting for. The competitors were on the edge of their seats praying that their names would be on that projector and their names ready to be called. If they excelled in their event enough, they were able to advance to the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, and they would be up against the nation's best and compete for an amazing title. The Owen-Withee Chapter was awarded 1st place in the Market Share category by having the highest ratio of FBLA members to the total students. The competitors that advance to nationals are Paris Ackerman, 4th in Electronic Career Portfolio; Jack Wendler and Paris Ackerman, 2nd in Local Chapter Annual Business Report; Mason Gay 1st place in Partnership with a Business and 4th in the Who’s Who in FBLA; and Cassidy Graski, 3rd in Future Business Leader.

We congratulate them for their hard work and dedication in their specialized field. Great job to those that competed and good luck to those competing at Nationals.
