Aspirus is pleased to welcome General Surgeon Joseph Clere, M.D., to the Medford community.
Raised in a rural community in southern Indiana, Dr. Clere brings a personal understanding of the importance of accessible health care in rural areas. Before entering medicine, he worked in construction and later as a hemodialysis technician while completing his undergraduate education. Those experiences helped shape his practical, patient-centered approach to care.
“I value rural medicine and the opportunity to provide appropriate surgical care close to home,” Dr. Clere said. “My goal is to help patients receive the care they need while minimizing the distance they must travel.”
Dr. Clere earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Aurora, Colorado, where he participated in a rural healthcare track. He completed his general surgery residency at Hennepin Healthcare, Minneapolis, MN training at a county hospital and Level I trauma center. The breadth of that experience provided a strong foundation for rural general surgery practice. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Outside of work, Dr. Clere enjoys camping and traveling with his wife and their two children. His wife, an emergency medicine physician, met him while they were in medical training. He also enjoys working with hand tools, running, hiking, and reading.
Dr. Clere will see patients at Aspirus Medford Clinic, 143 South Gibson Street. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 715-748-2121.
