Village of Withee moves funds into the Local Government Investment Pool

The Withee Village Board held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 10. Before payment of bills was approved, a change was made for a bill where a credit had been issued. During the payroll report, it was noted that DPW Derek Schad had overtime hours due to a water leak and snow plowing.
Under Community Input, Mary Rosiejka asked a question about a plugged culvert on Clover Street. She was wondering if it would be cleared out before her yard flooded. She said that former DPW Troy Hatlestad had said the culvert was collapsed. The conclusion was that it was probably privately owned as it was in a driveway, but DPW Schad said he would take a look at it. She also asked about accumulating garbage at 705 Clover Street. She was told that is a police matter.
Police bills from January 3 through March 5 were paid. Comments were made that the village board wasn’t getting copies of the police report. They had photocopies from what was printed in the newspaper.
For Public Works, DPW Schad spoke of a water leak in a vacant home on Front Street. He had to go into the basement to get the water turned off. The work to install a sewer sleeve in the pipe on Mill Street is complete. Schad plans to install the new chemical pumps when they arrive. After that is complete, B&M will return to finish what needs to be done with the pumps and Well #3.
Open Book was set for April 23 and Board of Review for April 30.
It was approved to move some village money to the Local Government Investment Pool (LGIP) to earn a higher interest rate. The money will be accessible if needed, although it would take a couple of days to get the check. The village could also have immediate access if they paid a wire transfer fee. It was decided to move $50,000 from the General Fund and $200,000 from the Water Fund to LGIP. No Sewer Fund money will be moved at this time.
