Blackhawk players and coach represent us in All-Star Game

The Owen-Withee Blackhawk Football Team was well represented in the annual North/South All-Star game played in Oshkosh July 19! In what was a back and forth game the North came from behind with just over 30 seconds to go in the game to notch a 36-34 win. Ryan Nelson, son of Rick and Patti was the starting LB and defensive captain, Colin Dallman, son of Jamie and Heidi was the starting defensive left cornerback, and Vince Henke, son of Kevin and Wendi found himself contributing on both sides of the ball at TE and DE. The players also found themselves contributing in a big way on most all of the Special Teams units as well. In addition to the three players, Coach Albert Goerlitz was the defensive backs coach and Special Teams coach for the North squad. It was easily recognized that Coach Goerlitz was a player favorite throughout the game as he was constantly coaching kids up during the game. Not only is it a great honor to close out your high school career by playing in a game like this, but the players and coaches raised over $300,000 through donations and advertisements and presented that check to the Wisconsin Children’s Hospital at halftime of the game! The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association continues to support this very worthy cause with the 8-man All-Star game on Friday night and the two 11-man Divisions 1-3 and 4-7 games played on Saturday.

It was also great to see how our community supported the boys down at the game Friday evening with the number of family, friends, fans, teammates, and coaches in attendance! A huge thank you to all who supported a great cause!
