In a road non-conference contest at Augusta, the Blackhawks came out with pressure defense starting from the tip and never looked back while also riding some hot perimeter shooting to walk away with a 69-28 victory.
Mason Gay started the scoring by hitting Winston Poehler on a cut and post feed and then Gay came down the following possession and drilled a three from deep to get the Hawks out to a 5-1 lead. Six straight points for the Hawks from Poehler over the next four possessions extended the lead. Dominic Sherwood got the inside game going by hitting Jack Wendler in the post for a bucket, as Gay then followed with another three putting the score at 18-4. Not to be outdone, Poehler lined one up from deep and hit it. Colin Fritz's offensive rebound and pass to Sam Wells earned two more for the Hawks. Later Gay would finish off the half with his third three, making the score 31-7 at the half.
Poehler started off the half with a clean steal and lay-in as the Blackhawks continued to roll. They would score on 12 of 15 possessions in the middle of the half to keep the Beavers from thinking comeback. Fritz would score inside along with Wendler, and Gay and Poehler would each hit a three again. Wendler would later hit Brett Baehr with a nice post-to-post pass for two. Junior Colton Paczkowski followed with a 15 foot jumper along with Preston Fritz knocking in a pair of free throws. The Hawks would out score the Beavers 38-21 in the second half for a 69-28 final.
The Blackhawks shot 26-57 overall and finished with 17 assists on the night along with 21 steals.

Coach's Comments
We played well on the defensive end and shot well from the outside, which was nice to see. We left too many points on the court in the first half, but finished better the second half. I like the way we moved the ball to both sides of the court.
