The Blackhawks' opening round of WIAA tournament play was delayed until Thursday as the Blackhawks took on the Mercer Tigers. The Blackhawks scored plenty of points early to coast to the 96-33 victory and advance.
Mason Gay scored 11 points in the first half as the Blackhawks' pressure defense gave the Tigers trouble along with Jack Wendler scoring in the post for 10 points in the half. Winston Poehler added nine including a three-pointer. Nine different Blackhawks scored in the half as they built a 60-18 halftime lead. With the starters playing very limited minutes in the second half, Preston Fritz scored eight quick points, along with eight from Wendler also. Sam Wells came off the bench to put in four hoops of his own. Senior Mathew Wilson scored the final basket for the Hawks in the low post capping the 96-33 victory.
Eleven different players scored for the Hawks as they outrebounded the Tigers and hit five three-pointers on the night.

Coach's Comments
After a two day delay, we finally got to play as the guys were eager and ready to go. The players continued to attack the rim throughout the game and played well together as always.
