County X in the city of Owen near the city garage was reduced to one lane late Tuesday, October 1, completely closed to traffic on Wednesday, October 2, and one lane again for part of Thursday, October 3 for the replacement of a concrete box culvert.
The box culvert was 10 feet wide by 7 feet high by 30 feet long and was almost 100 years old, having been constructed in 1928. It was replaced with an 87 inch by 63 inch by 60 foot corrugated metal pipe. The work was needed due to the concrete that was part of the box culvert deteriorating. The culvert also had failing wing walls.
The Clark County Highway Department did the work after receiving a permit and design approval from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
