On January 3, the JV Hawks traveled to Phillips and defeated the Loggers 40-37. It was a tough first half as neither team could pull away. The Hawks got 5 steals and Preston Fritz had 12 points but we trailed at the half 26-21.
The second half the Blackhawks continued to trap the Loggers by getting 6 more steals. They would go on an 8-0 run taking a 33-29 lead. Phillips would crank up the defensive pressure, but the Hawks handled it well. The Blackhawks would then hit 11 of 13 free throws in the half to maintain their lead. Down 40-37 with 3.8 secs. left, the Loggers' three-point attempt bounced off the rim. The Blackhawks got a nice come-from-behind road win.
