On December 6, members of the Clark County Law Enforcement Association gathered at Wolf’s True Value in Greenwood and Russell’s in Neillsville to shop with kids and give them a positive experience with the police. There were about 25 kids who participated this year and each had $150 to spend. Many of the officers pulled out their own wallets if the kids went a little bit over the amount allowed.
After shopping was completed, kids and their families were then invited to a lunch of chicken strips, French fries, and homemade soup in Loyal. The meal was donated by a new local business. The kids had a chance to visit with Santa, who was delivered by a fire truck, and receive gifts.
The kids are nominated by their schools. Then the Clark County Law Enforcement reaches out to the families to see if they would like to be involved. Donations from local businesses and people in Clark County make this event possible.
Officers from the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Thorp Police Department, Loyal Police Department, Greenwood Police Department, Colby-Abbotsford Police Department, Owen-Withee Police Department, and DNR Wardens were at Wolf’s. The Neillsville Police Department, Clark County Coroner and State Patrol participated at Russell’s.
