The Owen-Withee boys and girls track teams are primed for the post-season.
Both teams captured the championships at the Eastern Cloverbelt Conference Meet Thursday in Gilman. This week, the Blackhawks compete in WIAA Regionals with the WIAA Sectional Meet scheduled for Friday in Colby. The WIAA State Meet is June 6-7 in La Crosse.
The Owen-Withee boys captured first in seven events to win with 189 team points, followed by Neillsville 163.5, Spencer 80, Gilman 79.5, Columbus Catholic 68, Colby 44, Loyal 34 and Greenwood 20. The Blackhawk girls captured four first place finishes enroute to the championship with 159.5 points, followed by Neillsville 142.5, Gilman 116, Loyal 89, Colby 89, Columbus Catholic 42, Spencer 29, Greenwood 19 and Granton 3.
The Owen-Withee trio of Brandon Geldernick, Colton Paczkowski and Mason Gay each won first in two events. Geldernick won the 100 meter dash in 11.23 and the 200 in 22.76. Paczkowski won the 800 meter run in 2:02.75 and the 1600 meters in 4:42.92. Gay won the 400 meter dash in 53.66 and the 300 meter hurdles in 43.00.
Sullivan Poehler took first in the discus with a throw of 122-8.
On the girls side, Kendall Weiler took first in the 300 meter hurdles in 47.34. Madi Mueller won the 800 meter run in 2:34.66. The Owen-Withee girls won both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays.
