Curtiss Corner’s Quilt Club met on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 6:45 p.m. at Curtiss Community Center.

In May 2023 two challenge fabrics were handed out to each member. Members have one year to create a quilted project using the fabrics. At the meeting completed challenge projects were judged with ribbons awarded. The judge shared insight on each project. Having your quilt judged is a good process to discover not only what you can improve upon but also what you are doing well.

Set your calendar! August Quilt Show is Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Curtiss Community Center. Events include quilts on display, demonstrations, craft sale, community service display and vendors.

Calling all Youth Quilters! New for the quilt show is Kid’s Corner where youth are invited to display sewing projects. Check out the Facebook page for Curtiss Corners Quilt Club and submit any questions or interest in entering projects.

Quilt Show Theme for 2024 is Teddy Bears and Foster Care in recognition of our community service project. The club is making quilts for Clark County’s Foster Care program and partnering with Stanley Correctional Institution’s SCOPES program to include a teddy bear or stuffed critter with each quilt.

Monthly Tip: 4 Tips for perfect ¼” seams. 1) Press & starch before you cut fabric. 2) Use quarter-inch presser foot. 3) Measure needle distance. 4) Measure pressed patchwork. Give these four tips a try and see if your patchwork precision improves.
