The Gilman Pirates football team is headed to state.
Meeting Oakfield at Waupaca Friday November 7, the Pirates came away with a 30-12 finish, punching their ticket to the state football championship. The eight-player varsity football team will face McDonell Central on Saturday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m. at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School South Wood County Stadium. Gilman finished its season first in the North Central-East Conference with a 12-0 overall record this year. McDonell is ranked number two in the conference, sporting an 11-1 record and earning its trip to face Gilman at state after defeating Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas 64-29 November 7 at D.C. Everest.
General admission tickets for the eight-player state football championship at Wisconsin Rapids are $12.55 and can be purchased online via the link at wiaa.org. Your phone is your ticket to the game. Children two years and younger do not require a ticket, while parking at the stadium is $5 per car or van.
Gilman is offering a charter bus to the game for fans. Sign up was due with the school by Monday, November 10. For those unable to make the game in person it will also be streamed live on the WIAA.TV portal of the NFHS Network, with access via a subscription at wiaawi.org.
