It was cloudy with temperatures in the low 60s, with the threat of light showers but 12 golfers clad in jackets and windbreakers showed up for our 3rd Fun League outing. Three matching by ability teams were formed through the drawing of cards. Teams went out to play what is known as Scramble golf. This popular format involves players taking turns hitting shots, selecting the best one for the next shot until the hole is completed. This is a fun format for golfers of all skill levels. With the course conditions being in fine condition, all teams shot extremely well but few birdies were recorded. The winning team, shooting 3 under par consisted of captain Scott Strzok partnering with Mary Meyer, John Boss and Richard Wachsmuth. Hole prizes were won by LeRoy Wellman, longest putt on hole #9 and Dale Raatz being 5/16 of an inch from the pin after two shots on hole #2. The Fun League is held each Tuesday at Meadowview Golf Course throughout the summer. Show up early, no later than 9:30 a.m. for registration and team selection with tee-off scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Come and enjoy a low stress round of golf.
