Week 2 of the Tuesday Golf Fun League witnessed a remarkable improvement in weather compared to the previous week. The sun shone brightly, and the temperature hovered in the 50s and 60s. Despite the pleasant weather, golfers had to deal with a strong wind. Nevertheless, 11 eager golfers showed up, ready to compete. Three team captains were chosen: Kert Boie, Mark Schmidt, and Scott Strzok. The remaining team members were assigned through a card draw. Each team participated in a revised scramble format called Step Aside Scramble. In this format, golfers took turns hitting each shot, and the best shot advanced. However, no golfer could hit consecutive shots or had to Step Aside. The competition was intense, with all teams demonstrating exceptional skill and scoring well. Mark Schmidt, LeRoy Wellman, Gordy Schmidt, and Richard Wachsmuth emerged victorious, winning the coveted 1st place prize. They achieved an impressive score of 3 under par, totaling 33. To add excitement to the event, hole prizes were awarded. Bob Arimura received the prize for the longest putt on hole #9, while Rick Raatz was recognized for being closest to the pin off the tee on hole #2. A new member joined the league, thoroughly enjoying the fun and camaraderie. The Fun League is an annual event held every Tuesday at Meadowview Golf Course throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Each week, the competition features a different version of the Scramble format, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience for all participants.
