The day was overcast and chilly, with a brisk breeze making it feel like the 40s. The course was damp from the rain before. Still, eight enthusiastic golfers showed up at Meadowview Golf Course for the Tuesday Fun League. We split them into two teams, with Kert Boie and Scott Strzok leading the way as team captains. The rest of the team members were picked through a card draw. Each team played a scramble format called Dice Scramble. In this format, golfers each hit their drive. Then, a die is thrown after the drive. The number rolled decides which drive to use. This can be a thrilling or frustrating experience. After the round, each team was tied with scores of 39. But Kert Boie, Dennis Wilson, Buck Michlig, and Dennis Kieser clinched first place by making par on both holes 7 and 9. Hole prizes went to Kert Boie, who was closest to the pin on hole #2, and Rick Raatz, who made the longest putt on hole #9. The Fun League is a yearly event held every Tuesday at Meadowview Golf Course during the spring, summer, and fall. Each week, we try out a different version of the Scramble format, so everyone gets a fresh and exciting experience. Get there early, by 9:30 a.m., to sign up and pick your team. Tee-off is set for 10:00 a.m. Come and enjoy a relaxed round of golf that’s sure to be fun and rewarding.
