On January 9 the JV boys basketball team lost 48-46 to the Spencer Rockets at home. The Hawks took an early 9-0 lead but the Rockets came back to make it 11-8. The Blackhawks' trapping defense created problems for the Rockets, getting 6 first-half steals. Tegan Treankler paced the Hawks with 10 points as the Blackhawks trailed 24-20 at the half.
In the second half, the game would stay close throughout. Nolan Peterson would hit 3 threes against the Rockets' zone defense to keep the Hawks close. Our post players worked hard inside and rebounded well. It was a tough loss but we had our chances.
