The JV Blackhawks traveled to Marshfield February 17 and were defeated by the Columbus Dons 67-39. A slow start for the Hawks forced them to play catch up the rest of the game. Columbus put pressure on the Hawks early with a zone press, getting a few turnovers. Our offense also couldn't get the lid off, which dug our hole, getting down 36-16 at the half. Tristen Wojcik and Tegan Treankler had 4 points each with Austin Yeager and Nolan Peterson hitting threes.
The second half we took care of the ball better. Treankler made things happen at the high post, scoring 15 points and kicking the ball out to open shooters. The Hawks stayed aggressive and played hard defensively but the Dons hit 6 three-pointers which helped finish off the Hawks.
Box Score: (39) Treankler 19, Peterson 5, Pyrchalla 4, Wojcik 4, Dambeck 4, Yeager 3; 3PT: (3) Yeager, Peterson, Treankler; FT: 8-11 (72%).
