Friday, January 31, the Owen-Withee girls varsity basketball team faced off against the Spencer Rockets. This match-up of Cloverbelt Conference foes featuring the number two and number seven teams in the conference was a battle. With the girls back to their winning ways, the Hawks quickly took care of the Spencer Rockets getting off to the early 27 to 12 lead as they headed into the half. The offense got rolling for the girls as they were in control of the game scoring 28 more points in the second half to take the 55-24 win over the Spencer Rockets.
Next the girls took the trek up north to square off against the Prentice Pirates. Both teams come into this non-conference match-up sitting in second place in the Cloverbelt and Marawood respectively. With that being said it was a good match between the two teams. The girls got off to a quick start with some good offense from the players. They were swift to pick up a lead in the first half. They were up 28-15 at halftime with expectations to finish and win the game. In the second half the Pirates went on a run getting within 5 with nine minutes left in the half. The veteran team would not be deterred as the girls closed out the game. They picked up the win over the Marawood foe with a final score of 47-38.
